Central Standout Guard Puts In The Work, Determined To Play At Next Level

It's not easy to earn a college scholarship offer to play basketball at the next level, but one Central guard is determined to make a splash.

It's another day and that means another practice for Braves guard Caylen Goff-Brown.

His mindset is simple: put in the work now to become an asset in the future.

"I just pick and choose when I shoot. If I know I can make the shot I'm going to shoot it but I know if I have to get off of it and go find somewhere else to make a shot or create, I do that too,” Goff-Brown said.

With already three division-one offers on the table, Goff-Brown is wanting more. He leads the Braves in scoring, averaging 21 points a game.

That effort hasn't come easy. When practice is over with his team, he is just beginning with head coach Aaron Daniels.

"If it’s up to him, he is going to be in here. I got nothing to do, plus I love this I figure, as coaches it’s the least we can do is provide as many opportunities as we can make available for them to come in here and get a lot of work in,” Daniels said.

These daily practices have become a ritual for both player and coach, and Daniels hopes that work ethic rubs off on the rest of his team.

"This is always a team game and I tell him that all the time. We may go as you go but we got to go to you because you’re talented, but if I'm recruiting you, I want to recruit a winner. So, let’s see if we can elevate those around us and we as a team can get to that next level,” Daniels said.
