A community is mourning after the recent death of a Mid-Del Public Schools teacher.
Sandi Laughlin, a 3rd grade teacher at Tinker Elementary School, died Sunday, December 27, according to school principal Ashley Glover. Family members said on social media Laughlin’s death was COVID-19 related.
In a letter to parents Glover said in part:
"It is with great sadness we inform you of a death in our school community… This loss raises many emotions for our entire school community. Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to Mrs. Laughlin’s family and friends."
Glover said counselors, teachers and the district’s response team will be available to help students deal with the loss.
Instead of flowers the family is requesting monetary or gifts of school supplies be delivered to the office of Tinker Elementary. School staff returns January 4.
