The journey to the title game for the Dewar Dragons has had a few interesting stops along the way.

Dewar has had a long history of playoff football in Oklahoma.

With 39 playoff appearances and two runner ups, this year, the Dragons want to finish with their first gold ball.

"You know Dewar has been in the playoffs a lot and we are at the top of the list of teams in the playoffs without a state championship,” Head Coach Josh Been said. “So, we are looking forward to getting that monkey off our back."

While dealing with the weather and having no field to practice on because of snow, the Dragons have been literally everywhere to get ready for Laverne. They’ve practiced in Ada, the school’s indoor facility at Okmulgee Thursday, even practicing in a rodeo arena at world champion bull rider Terry Don West venue in Salem.

Their road to the playoffs is just like the old Johnny Cash song, "I’ve been everywhere man.”

"There is nothing more eight-man football, there is nothing more Dewar, Oklahoma than practicing in a rodeo arena,” quarterback Jerry Fowler said.

"Only part of it had been cut up for rodeo, so the rest of it was pretty packed, we pretty much did a walk thru,” Been said. “We enjoyed the day and had a good time. It was quite the experience."
