Calls released from Broken Arrow dispatchers Friday give a better look at how a Wednesday night home break-in turned into an 11-hour police standoff Thursday.

The calls start with the dispatcher and homeowner, who came home to find his doors blocked in by the suspect. The suspect has since been arrested and identified as 35-year-old Hiest Hart.

The homeowner told dispatchers that Hart was yelling at them from inside the home and threatening to shoot him.

Caller: "There is somebody in there, yeah there is somebody in there."

Dispatch: "Be advised - the person in the residence that has broken into it, the RP just told me he was going to shoot him."

Broken Arrow Police surrounded the home Wednesday night, kicking off the lengthy standoff. Police said they tried teargas and pepper balls to drive Hart out, but he stayed inside the attic.

Just before 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, special operations officers made moves to go inside the home and were on their way in, when they say Hart shot at them from inside.

Officer 1: "We just had shots fired ... did the bearcat take a round?"

Officer 2: "I don't believe we were hit."

Officer 1: "Alright we just had one single gunshot go off while we were in the garage."

Police said around an hour after Hart shot at officers, he started lighting fires inside the attic where he was hiding. As the flames grew, police said Hart tried to make a run for it but police were able to catch him before he got away.

Fire crews were able to contain the flames before they spread to other buildings in the area.

After his arrest, paramedics took Hart to a hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Friday afternoon, Hart was transferred to the Wagoner County Jail on complaints of second-degree burglary, second-degree arson, and shooting with intent to kill.
