Edmond Public Schools will be returning to a staggered A-B schedule starting Monday.

Students on the A schedule will be in class Monday morning, while kids on the B schedule will return on Thursday.

Mid-Del Public schools will return to in person learning as well.

On the State Department of Education's newest COVID-19 alert map, all but three counties across the state are in the red alert level.

Oklahoma County is in the red right now, that's when the department recommends districts talk with the state or local health department about building closures and distance learning.

Edmond schools say a week of remote learning, plus Thanksgiving break gave students and staff impacted by the virus time to clear from quarantine.

However EPS Superintendent Bret Towne says in part:

"We are well aware that there will likely be a spike in cases and resulting quarantines in the weeks following the Thanksgiving holiday. We will, of course, be carefully watching the local, and state data and could make adjustments to our plan if necessary."

Many school districts across the state, like Yukon, Putnam City and Stillwater, are extending their virtual learning plans for at least another week.
