50M Americans Experienced Food Insecurity In 2020, Hunger-Relief Organization Projects

The country's largest domestic hunger-relief organization projects more than 50 million Americans will have experienced food insecurity in 2020. That number is up significantly from around 35 million before the COVID-19 pandemic began.

The country's largest domestic hunger-relief organization projects more than 50 million Americans will have experienced food insecurity in 2020.

That number is up significantly from around 35 million before the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Joel Berg from Feeding America said, "This is the worst hunger crisis in modern American times. Unless the federal government does something big and quick, we're gonna see starvation conditions like this country hasn't seen since the Great Depression."

Researchers from Northwestern University estimate food insecurity in the U.S. doubled in just the first few months of the pandemic.
