Ben Martin and his crew at R&B Turf and Tree provided some complementary cleanup at Heritage Village in Edmond.

The neighborhood is part of Turning Point Ministries, a nonprofit that provides affordable housing for people in Edmond.

“We were really worried and praying about how are we going to get this clean up paid for, and Ben just kind of came out of nowhere and provided this service for us, so we are extremely grateful," said Turning Point Executive Director Michelle Gregory.

Turning Point estimates that Ben’s company is cleaning up $30,000 worth of tree damage, and Ben said he's not stopping here.

“We’re just going to continue to give back," said Martin, the co-owner of R&B Turf and Tree. "We’re going to try to do one day a week for the next few months, and really just try and clean up Oklahoma.”

Ben started the company with his wife Robin, but he spent years barking up the wrong tree before climbing to where he is now.

He is a recovered drug and alcohol addict and started R&B after a year of sobriety.

“Part of my service to giving back and staying sober is giving back to others, so a lot of my employees are from homes or straight out of jail or rehab," said Martin.

Because as Ben Martin knows, it’s never a bad time to turn a new leaf.

“Really just about second chances. I think everybody deserves a second break,” he said.
