List Of Okla. School Districts Returning To Virtual Learning Due To Rise In COVID Cases

Some Oklahoma school districts have opted to return to virtual learning due to a continuous increase in state COVID-19 cases.

Some Oklahoma school districts have opted to return to virtual learning due to a continuous increase in state COVID-19 cases.

The latest risk level on the Oklahoma State Department of Health’s COVID Alert System has caused the Oklahoma State Department of Education to enter its red level category, meaning 50 or more cases per 100,000 people by county. 

The following is a list of districts moving to distance learning.

Bethany Public Schools: On Nov 30, the school district will transition to distance learning. The district said they are unsure how long they will follow the distance learning format.

Cherokee Public Schools: On Dec. 15, sixth through 12th grade students will move to distance learning for the remainder of the week due to two positive COVID-19 cases within in the staff at the Junior High and High school, officials said.

Cordell Public Schools: On Nov. 19, the school district said will transition to virtual learning until Monday, Dec. 7.

Deer Creek Public Schools: The district said Deer Creek Middle School will move to remote learning from Dec 7. through Dec 10. All extracurricular activities from Dec. 7 through Dec. 10 will be canceled.

Edmond Public Schools: On Nov. 19, Edmond Public Schools said it will return to its in-person A/B schedule on Nov. 30. Students on Schedule A will return in person on Monday, Nov. 30. Students on Schedule B will return in person on Thursday, Dec. 3.

El Reno Public Schools: El Reno High School and Etta Dale Jr High transitions to distance learning beginning Friday, November 13 through Friday, November 20.

Enid Public Schools: EPS moves to distance learning from November 16-20.

Little Axe Public Schools: On Nov. 13, Little Axe Public Schools announced that it will transition to virtual instruction beginning Monday, Nov. 16 through Friday, Nov. 20 leading into Thanksgiving break. Little Axe Public Schools will resume in-person instruction Monday, December 7, 2020.

McLoud Public Schools: McLoud moves to distance learning from November 16-19.

Mustang Public Schools: The district announced that it will transition to distance learning beginning Monday, Nov. 16 through Friday, Dec. 4.

Oklahoma City Public Schools: OKCPS will move back to full-time remote learning starting Monday, Nov. 16 and will remain in remote learning through the end of the first semester, which ends on Dec. 18.

Putnam City Schools: Putnam City Schools will take part in distance learning through Dec. 18.

Piedmont Public Schools: Piedmont Public Schools will transition to distance learning beginning Monday, December 14. Students will have the opportunity to return to in-person learning on January 19, Superintendent James White said.

Shattuck Public Schools: Shattuck Public Schools will move to distance learning from Nov. 18 to 30. All school activities will continue to take place. Breakfast and lunch will be served daily during learning. Parents and guardians are asked to call the child's school office by noon the day before for meals. Meals can be picked up from 8 to 8:30 a.m. for breakfast and 11:30 a.m. to noon for lunch at each school site.

Stillwater Public Schools: SPS will continue distance learning for the week of Nov. 23-24.

Yukon Public Schools: YPS moves to its continuous learning plan beginning Nov. 18. Nov. 16-17 will also be virtual learning days.
