Skillet Sweet Potato 

  1. 4 cups sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  2. 4 tablespoon unsalted butter
  3. 1/2 cup brown sugar
  4. 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  5. 2 tablespoon maple syrup
  6. Pinch of salt
  7. 1/4 cup water or rum
  8. 1/2 cup pecans, chopped


  1. In a large cast iron skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Stir in brown sugar, nutmeg, and maple syrup.
  3. Cook till sugar is melted and then add in the sweet potatoes.
  4. Toss together so that all of the potatoes are coated with the sweet syrup.
  5. Add a little bit of liquid to the pan and place a lid on top.
  6. Continue to cook for 10 minutes, adding more liquid and stirring as needed.
  7. Potatoes are done when they are fork tender.
  8. Remove from the heat and sprinkle with chopped pecans.
  9. Serve warm.
