Oklahoma City baker Stefanie Embree was recently featured on Sarah Ferguson's YouTube channel. Yes, as in the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson.
Embree was contacted on Instagram by the Duchess' team to make the video.
"So I was like, ‘This is cool, absolutely,’" Embree said.
Embree made rainbow marshmallow treats.
So just how does an Oklahoma City baker get on royalty’s radar?
Embree is a social media star with over 50,000 Instagram followers.
She used to teach middle school orchestra, but she traded in the sound of music for the smells of cake and cookies when she started OKC Sweets in her kitchen two years ago. Embree later opened her own store in Nichols Hills.
"Kind of my goal with OKC Sweets and with our business is to bring joy into the life of others,” Embree said.
News 9 caught up with Embree on Tuesday. She was busy baking treats in the shapes of elephants and donkeys.
Embree said the decision to open a business during the COVID-19 pandemic was anything but a piece of cake.
"We just decided to take a leap of faith,” Embree said. “We prayed about it a lot."
Embree said now more than ever, it's important to bring that joy to others.
"I think even, amidst COVID and the year 2020, people still need joy, so we're just doing our little part to provide that."
OKC Sweets is located at 7306 North Western Ave. in Nichols Hills.
