The U.S. Department of Agriculture is investing more than $26 million to bring better internet to rural Oklahoma.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is investing more than $26 million to bring better internet to rural Oklahoma.

The announcement on Thursday in Checotah means miles of cable will be installed and nearly 6,000 people, 228 farms and 55 businesses will be brought up to speed.

The USDA said faster internet is critical for rural communities to thrive and has the potential to bring new jobs and businesses to rural places.
