An Oklahoma City firefighter was injured Wednesday night, while responding to a house fire in northwest Oklahoma City, fire officials said.
According to Chief Benny Fulkerson, the firefighter was on the roof of a home near Northwest 122nd Street and North MacArthur Boulevard performing ventilation and briefly inhaled superheated smoke.
The firefighter was evaluated by fellow firefighters and EMSA personnel before being taken to Integris Baptist Medical Center. Firefighters said he was in good spirits while being taken to the hospital, but his condition quickly got worse.
Fire officials said he is in serious condition in the Intensive Care Unit.
This is a developing story.
