Miss Oklahoma USA On A Mission To Bring Awareness To Mental Health

Mariah Davis wears many different hats, and a crown. Aside from being Miss Oklahoma USA, she works in reality TV production and also spends a lot of time giving back.

Mariah works with a number of organizations, including the OK Kids Korral, a haven for pediatric cancer patients and their families.

"I am in such a fortunate position in my life, and I have the means to give back. I feel like I've been given this amazing platform," Davis said.

Mariah is also a mental health advocate. From a young age she's suffered from depression and anxiety.

"I felt ashamed of it because the world stigmatized mental health, so I stigmatized mental health," she said.

Mariah's condition worsened in college. She attempted to take her own life.

"Following that event, that's when I really sought out growth and healing," Davis said.

Mariah wants to normalize the conversation about mental health.

She works with numerous organizations and even started her own.

It's called Lift Up Your Sister, a support group for women.

Through the ups and down, Mariah is thankful for every experience, because it brought her to where she is now.

"Maybe this was supposed to be my path so that I could one day be ready for this position, and I can share this story...and hopefully help someone that was just like me," Davis said.
