Two Oklahoma men are in the LeFlore County Jail accused of illegally performing surgery on a man at a property south of the town of LeFlore.

Sheriff Rodney Derryberry said this case is something they have never seen before in LeFlore County.

The sheriff said Thomas Evans Gates and Bobby Lee Allen performed a medical procedure on a man's private parts.

The sheriff would not confirm why the suspects performed the "so-called" surgery and said it is not clear if the men were being paid for the procedure. But he did make it clear neither of the men have a medical license.

The sheriff said they served a search warrant at a house the suspects own in Wister and found evidence of possible crimes and surgeries.

The sheriff said the men ended up taking the victim to the hospital in McAlester on October 14 and that is when law enforcement was notified.

He said McAlester police arrested the men the next day, on October 15, when they tried to visit the victim at the hospital.

The sheriff said the victim is still in the hospital and is doing better.

Sheriff Derryberry said as of now, he only knows of the one victim, but believes there could be more.

He said investigators recovered a lot of electronic data from the suspects' house. He said the OSBI and FBI will join in to help with the investigation.

He said the two suspects are facing a long list of charges, including medical battery, maiming, desecration of a human member, conspiracy, aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, outraging public decency with gross injury and possession of a controlled dangerous substance/paraphernalia.

The suspects have a court hearing set for October 23. Their bonds are set at $295,000 each.
