2 Men Die After Vehicles Collide In Kay County

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a deadly head-on collision in Kay County.

The collision happened on State Highway 11 between Waverly Street and Union Street just after 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Authorities said a pickup truck traveling westbound on State Highway 11 when it crossed the center line into the eastbound lane and shoulder where it struck an SUV head-on.

The SUV rolled over and then caught fire. The drivers of both vehicles, 74-year-old John Holden and 73-year-old Jerry Johns, were pinned for more than three hours before they were extricated.

Ponca City EMS declared Holden and Johns dead at the scene.

The two passengers in Holden's vehicle were admitted in fair condition at separate hospitals in Oklahoma City.

OHP said the cause of the collision is still under investigation.
