Two experienced legislators are vying to represent Oklahoma’s 5th Congressional District.

Democratic incumbent, Congresswoman Kendra Horn, will face off against Republican challenger, state Sen. Stephanie Bice.

Two years ago, Horn won the CD-5 seat by 3,300 votes.

Horn said during her time in Congress, she's worked with the bipartisan "problem solvers caucus" to tackle issues like the USMCA trade deal, military housing and COVID-19 relief bills.

The representative said she's not afraid to call out her fellow Democrats when they're wrong.

“I'm proud of my record of reaching across the aisle and getting things done. I’ve had 23 bills signed into law by the president, working across the aisle, and I’ve been one of the most accessible members of Congress,” Horn said.

Despite her bipartisan efforts, Horn voted in favor of both articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump in December.

Horn said expanding access to quality affordable healthcare is a top priority.

Meanwhile, Bice is working to turn the CD-5 seat red again.

Bice defeated Terry Neese during the Republican primary runoff election in August.

During her time in the state legislature, Bice proudly modernized Oklahoma's liquor laws.

Although the state senator gained a reputation as a moderate within the Oklahoma Capitol, she is a Trump supporter and a self-described prolife, pro-Second Amendment conservative.

“I have not only a small business background experience, almost 20 years in the private sector, but I also have the legislative experience and a proven track record of fighting for Oklahomans and I'll do the same in Washington,” Bice said.

Each Tuesday and Thursday until election week, News 9’s Caleigh Bourgeois and Storme Jones will ask each candidate the tough questions.

Jones and Bourgeois will embed with Horn and Bice, respectively.

Starting one week before election night, both reporters will report on the candidates daily.
