Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden tested negative for the coronavirus. He and his wife were tested for the virus in the wake of President Donald Trump's infection.
In a tweet, Biden said, "I’m happy to report that Jill and I have tested negative for COVID. Thank you to everyone for your messages of concern. I hope this serves as a reminder: wear a mask, keep social distance, and wash your hands."
Biden was on the debate stage with Trump for more than 90 minutes earlier in the week. Trump and Biden did not shake hands during the debate but stood without masks about 10 feet apart for the 90-minute event.
Before Trump's diagnosis was announced, Biden's campaign confirmed they will launch traditional door knocking and in-person canvassing in several battleground states with a little over a month until the general election on November 3.
Biden said Friday that he and his wife Jill “send our thoughts to President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for a swift recovery” after they tested positive for the coronavirus.
In a Friday morning tweet, he added, “We will continue to pray for the health and safety of the president and his family.”
