Yukon Public Schools will start sending out classroom COVID-19 updates through emails or texts to parents if their child is in the same class as a student that has tested positive for the virus.

In a video on the Yukon Public School's Youtube page, the district said it’s updating the YPS COVID-19 dashboard every Friday.

According to the COVID-19 dashboard, nine students and two teachers have tested positive since September 25th, and 171 people within the district are in quarantine.

If a student or teacher tests positive for the virus or has symptoms the district said contact tracing will begin.

“This process involves investigation around classroom seating charts, it involves staff and student interviews, as well as mapping locations throughout the school site,” said Larrissa Lockwood, the YPS Communications Specialist.

The district said it will send out reminders through email, text messages, and phone calls so parents can check the new numbers.
