The Brookwood Skilled Nursing Home has put out a request for pen pals for their residents.

“This is going to be a bond this is going to be a relationship when you have a pen pal,” said Kellie Prather, the activities director for Brookwood.

Prather said with the holidays coming up and the ongoing pandemic restricting visitation they needed to get creative to combat the three plagues, loneliness depression and boredom, so they came up with a good ole fashion idea of finding pen pals for the residents

“It is more intimate and that way they can spill their thoughts and ideas on paper and the pen pal can as well,” said Prather.

Prather mentioned that the residents are anxious to get it going and she hopes each letter will be able to lift their spirits and put a smile on their faces.

“This pen pal is going to be able to carry them through the whole time this isn’t just a fad we are going to keep it going,” said Prather.

Because even through so much is going on in our world today, she said this is a generation she wants to make sure isn’t forgotten about.

“This is real this is gold you can change someone’s life with a letter,” said Prather.
