A Yukon man was arrested after he was accused of fatally injuring a 10-month-old child, Oklahoma City police said.

Investigators think the child was hurt by the man while at an apartment near Yukon.

Friday afternoon, Oklahoma City police responded to a minor emergency clinic near S Mustang Road and SW 5th Street. They were told a child had been brought in with critical injuries.

“She was transported to an area hospital from the minor emergency clinic,” said Master Sgt. Gary Knight with Oklahoma City Police. "Sadly, the following morning, she passed away as a result of her injuries.”

The child was identified as 10-month-old Paisley Cearley. Police said Joshua Jennings is the child's mother's boyfriend and Paisley was in his care at her apartment when the injuries happened.

“He was interviewed the day she was brought into the emergency clinic and subsequently booked into the Oklahoma County jail,” said Knight.

They said Jennings was arrested on a complaint of child abuse.

“Those complaints will now be amended to reflect murder in the first degree,” said Knight.

He was later transferred to the Canadian County jail where he is still being held.

Officials are still investigating this incident, and they have not released the child's exact injuries at this time.
