A man driving a rideshare was taken to the hospital in critical condition Monday morning after being shot and crashing into a vehicle near a home in southwest Oklahoma City, police said.
According to authorities, the crash was in the driveway of a home near Southwest 19th Street and South Pennsylvania Avenue.
When first responders arrived to the scene, they discovered the driver had been shot.
Police identified the driver as 55-year-old Tommy Cross.
The driver told police he picked up two females and a male near Del City and drove them to the area where he was found.
He said the three robbed him and shot him several times. The driver tried to drive away after being shot but crashed into a parked vehicle and garage.
“We are deeply saddened by this incident. The behavior described is unacceptable, and we have permanently removed the rider from the Lyft community. We are in touch with Tommy’s family to offer support, and will continue to assist law enforcement with their investigation,” a Lyft spokesperson said.
There is currently no suspect information.
This is a developing story.
