Poteau Boy Welcomed Home After 359-Day Hospital Stay

More than 100 people helped welcome home a boy from Poteau who spent nearly a year in a out-of-state hospital.

10-year-old Blake Standridge spent 359 days at a Saint Jude hospital. When it was time to come home, his family decorated the car for the long drive as the town prepared to greet him.

When Blake’s car rolled into town, it was behind a caravan of fire trucks and police cars. Community members lined the streets with signs and banners.

Friends, family, Blake’s teammates and the high school cheer team all turned out to welcome him home.
