Wounded Veterans, First Responders Hold Dove Hunt Near Garber

Veterans and first responders enjoyed the outdoors over the weekend and got to meet others who understand their struggles.

The organization Wounded Veterans of Oklahoma (WVO) held a dove hunt near Garber. 

It was one of their biggest turnouts.

News 9’s Lacie Lowry was a special guest.

The men shared stories of battling depression and isolation after their military service, and how WVO saved their lives.

For many of them, just being around each other and getting outdoors is great for their mental health.

“This is great self-care for me,” said Army veteran Quenton Jackson. ”I’ve got some personal struggles I’ve dealt with and found a great guy who is part of the organization and invited me to come and it’s been awesome,” he added.

Wounded Veterans of Oklahoma has several events and get togethers coming up.
