A shirtless woman is accused of two crimes after she was caught on camera rummaging through a Cleveland County homeowner's backyard.

The property owner said she spotted the suspect and confronted her last week in her backyard and has since learned the woman’s name is Anna Kirkes.

That homeowner said the suspect was walking around in a bra and shorts, and after allegedly stealing a few items, began pulling weeds out of the garden.

Now, Kirkes is facing charges of entering a structure with intent to commit larceny and obstruction.

“I am on my own property, minding my own business, and she was all over it,” said Shelli Aliff, homeowner.

About a week ago, Aliff said she came home to find out Kirkes peered inside her shed and home.

Her daughter and grandson were hiding inside the house.

Aliff said she stepped up to protect her family and asked Kirkes to leave.

The family said they also warned their neighbors about the alleged suspect on Facebook.

One neighbor replied that Kirkes went into her garage where children were playing.

When deputies arrived, Shelli said that Kirkes dropped her bag and ran into the woods and was caught a few hours later.

Inside the bag were dresses, some Christmas toys and other items that belonged to the family.

“The most disturbing thing that she had of ours was this, and I had no idea she had a hatchet,” said Aliff.

Shelli said she had no trespassing signs posted on her property, but was baffled when Kirks was detained, but later released.

Turns out, under Oklahoma law, a suspect has to be caught in the act by officers for it to be considered trespassing because trespassing is a misdemeanor, Kirks had already left the scene.

The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office confirmed initially, they did not have probable cause to arrest Kirkes. But after a deeper investigation, charges were submitted to the district attorney on Tuesday, September 8 and the case remains under investigation pending feedback from the district attorney’s office.

“It’s kind of a reminder that your own property is not sacred,” said Aliff.

Kirkes is not in custody at this time.

She also has a warrant out of Beckham County.
