Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers pulled over a speeding driver on Tuesday and found two young shooting victims in the car.

The mother of one of the victims told troopers she was taking them to a hospital.

Investigators still have a lot of unanswered questions in the shooting.

A witness who lives near where the shooting occurred said he heard several gunshots and panicked voices, but could not see how many people were involved.

Caller: “I think there was somebody behind our house firing off a nine millimeter.

That was the 911 call Blayke Willeford made while he was out walking his dog near SE 89th and Bryant Avenue.

“Next thing I know, I hear about four or five gunshots,” said Willeford.

He said the gunshots came from the basketball court at Bryant Elementary, but he said it was too dark to see anything, other than car headlights.

“All I heard was ‘Oh man, we need to get out of here, oh no,” said Willeford. “Like very, like there was a lot of panic in their voices when they did it. The next thing I know they go in the car and they booked it.”

While police were investigating the shooting call, they learned a mother driving two 15 year olds was pulled over for speeding on Interstate 44 near the NW 10th exit.

“As it turns out, that car had two teenagers, and both of them were suffering from gunshot wounds,” said Master Sgt. Gary Knight, Oklahoma City Police Department.

As state troopers questioned the mother and teens, they pieced together they were involved in the shooting at the basketball court and she was driving them to the hospital.

“The two victims had indicated they had gone to the basketball court,” said Knight. “They were approached by a person who demanded their items and when they refused the person shot them.”

The witness said he was thankful a stray bullet did not hit him or his family.

“I’m not sure what two 15-year-old teenagers were doing with a weapon or how they got that weapon,” said Willeford.

Police said they searched the mother's car and found marijuana, pills and a loaded gun. There was another passenger. Police said he claimed the items belonged to him.
