The Oklahoma City council will meet Tuesday to talk about extending the city's mask ordinance until November 30.
There will not be a vote on the extension, this is just the start of discussion. The vote will be held on September 1.
Mayor David Holt has voiced his support over the mask mandate, recently pointing out how COVID-19 case numbers have been declining since the initial vote happened back in July.
In a series of tweets, the mayor said that cases in the city have gone down by a third, while hospitalizations have come down around 20 percent.
"With this data in place, you can now see it significantly reduced the transmission of the virus. Let's keep it up," said Holt.
When the vote happens on September 1, it will only require a simple majority to go through, unlike the initial vote for the ordinance.
