Ponca City Public Schools said its servers were "significantly compromised" by a ransomware attack. The attack prompted the district to delay the start of the 2020-21 school year to Monday, August 24.

PCPS said there has not been disclosures of student or staff personnel information of any kind. All of the district's data was encrypted.

All PowerSchool and Parent Portal information was not compromised, the district said.

A rebuild of the district's files is the reason for delaying the start of the school year.

The district said it is working with an FBI cyber-security unit in an attempt to repel further attacks.

PCPS also said all Meet Your Teacher and pick-up dates will remain scheduled for August 17 and August 18. Registration make-up day will now be between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 20 at 111 W. Grand Avenue.

Ponca City's Virtual Academy Chromebook pick-up day will be between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday, August 21 at 111 W. Grand Avenue.

The district said students involved with extra-curricular activities will expect to hear from coaches and sponsors.
