Houston Rockets guard Russell Westbrook will reportedly miss the first few games of their first-round playoff series against the Oklahoma City Thunder, his former team, next week. The news was first reported by Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.
Westbrook was also ruled out of Houston's final seeding game Friday against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Westbrook underwent an MRI for a quadriceps injury. The test revealed a strained quad in his right leg.
The former Thunder star is averaging 27.2 points accompanied by a career-high 47.2 percent shooting from the floor in his first season as a Rocket. Oklahoma City clinched the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference after defeating the Miami Heat on Wednesday night. Houston is locked into the No. 4 seed.
