The grassroots group Unite Norman plans to turn in additional signatures on Thursday in hopes of recalling Mayor Breea Clark and four city council members.

The signatures, the group says, will be for one of the four wards. They did not disclose which ward specifically.

The group will hold a press conference Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m. outside Norman City Hall.

Organizers say they have enough signatures to recall ward 3 councilwoman, Alison Petrone.

They have also collected what they need for Ward 5's Sereta Wilson, but Wilson recently resigned.

In addition to Petrone, Wilson and Mayor Clark, the group's efforts have focused on council members in ward 1 and 7.

The petitioners must collect 1900 signatures for Ward 1 and a little more than 1500 for Ward 7.

To get a recall election on the Mayor, the group needs more than 18,000 signatures.

The deadline for petition is on Friday, but the group recently filed for an emergency extension citing threats to petitioners, harassment, and doxxing.

Organizers also claim there were several reports of people impersonating Unite Norman members, collecting signatures, and then destroying signature sheets.

Unite Norman formed in response to what it says are radical policies including the partial defunding of police.
