Sand Springs Public School leaders say they'll consider delaying the first day of classes.

The superintendent says she will propose pushing back the start of school by four days. That would mean students return to school Monday, August 24th. In a post on the district's Facebook page superintendent Sherry Durkee says the district has seen a spike in virtual enrollment numbers and that they're needing to adjust what classes are being offered as well as what schedules and staffing are going to look like. She says delaying the start of school gives them time to get that figured out while still finishing the school year before Memorial Day next Spring.

The delay is not set in stone just yet the school board will meet Thursday at noon to vote on whether to approve the change. Sand Springs is also offering in-person and blended instruction for this school year.
