The YMCA is making big changes to its after school programs.

The traditional program would meet for a few hours after school but that meeting time has more than doubled to accommodate students in distanced learning. The “Go Club” will host about 100 students each at the Tandy and Daily YMCA locations in Tulsa, as well as the Owasso and Bixby locations. The camp provides students a chance to complete their virtual learning as well as engage in several physical and educational activities. The club will be frequently sanitized and has already been measured for physical distancing. Organizers say they’ve been working around the clock as they pivot to this new plan and it will provide stability for kids.

“So things are going to look a little bit different but we will not sacrifice of the child. We want that to be rich. We want them to be socially engaged which is critical at this point in time. We want to support the family and want to make sure we’re supporting them in their virtual learning environment which is going to be new to everybody,” said Kyle Wilkes with YMCA.

The new camp will last from around 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information on the camp including how to sign up CLICK HERE
