TULSA -

Tax free weekend has officially begun in Oklahoma this Friday and will continue through Sunday night.

Many retailers and parents say back to school shopping looks different this year, but they are still excited to save a little money.

Tax free weekend started in Oklahoma in 2007 and is usually a sign that the first day of school is right around the corner.

Retailers said clothes and backpacks are always the go-to items, but they say the big item this year is masks.

Local store owner Ashley Ryan says the kids that are going back to school in-person need extra things this year to make sure they are prepared and don't have to share items and germs.

“I think people are going to want kids to bring water bottles if they are going to school and their own mask to keep everything as sanitary possible. Of course, we are selling hand sanitizer and anything to help kids enjoy the weird times as much as possible,” said Ryan.

Many local and chain stores are doing curbside pickup and delivery during this weekend as well if you aren’t comfortable shopping in person. Find More Details HERE
