A family argument on Wednesday turned into a murder investigation. Police arrested Christopher Gordon, 31, after he allegedly stabbed his mother’s boyfriend several times. The 31-year-old suspect was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a first-degree murder complaint.

Police responded to 58-year-old Milton High’s home near Southwest 25th Street and Western Avenue after a receiving a 911 call.

“More or less I just kind of woke up and saw all the stuff going on,” said neighbor Cameron Mitchell. “I was like well I’ll try to see what’s going on.”

Mitchell lives across the street from where the knife attack took the 58-year-old man's life. Mitchell said it is not unusual to see police in his neighborhood at all hours of the day.

“On this side of the city I hear commotion like this a lot,” said Mitchell. “You know police out and about. They’re out here pretty much often.”

When officers arrived to High’s home, they found him in the living room with multiple stab wounds.

“He was transferred to a nearby hospital,” said MSgt. Gary Knight, Oklahoma City Police Department. “Where sadly he succumbed to his injuries.”

Knight said a heated argument between High and his girlfriend's son escalated. A court document indicated that Gordon got "a small paring knife and stabbed the victim multiple times."

No one was at the family's home the following day, but neighbors said the fight may have first involved High and Gordon's mother.

“There were a bunch of rumors going around but nothing just people saying stuff really around the neighborhood,” said Mitchell. “Something about a guy and his old lady getting into it, something about a bat.”

Witnesses told police Gordon took off in a car after the stabbing.

“They were able to locate the suspect a short time later,” said Knight. “Take him into custody. He was interviewed by detectives and booked into the Oklahoma County jail.”

Police said Gordon lived with his mother and the victim.
