A new graduate of Choctaw High School has died after a crash and shooting Wednesday morning.

Police are trying to figure out who is behind this tragedy.

It all began early Wednesday, when Choctaw police and the Oklahoma County sheriff were called to the area of Northeast 36th Street and Henney Road.

“The witnesses did say that they heard gunshots, the crash, and gunshots,” Choctaw Police Chief Kelly Marshall said.

When police arrived, they found a car crashed into a culvert, 12 spent shell casings, and an 18-year-old victim, who had passed away.

The victim was identified as Armonii Johnson, who graduated from Choctaw High School just Monday.

“I have spoken to the principal of the high school, actually two principals of the high school, and they said that Armonii was a good young man. He had a great sense of humor. They thought a lot of him,” Marshall said.

Choctaw High School administration officials released the following statement to News 9:

“As a school community, we are heartbroken about the loss of Armonii Johnson. Armonii was a wonderful student. He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and the school community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.”

Police said they’re now investigating who is behind Johnson’s death.

“We have a couple of witnesses, they didn’t have any suspect information at the time. The only information they did have was that it was a small white vehicle,” Marshall said.

The medical examiner will determine whether Johnson died from the gunshot wounds or the crash.
