Bartlesville Public Schools says it will release a draft plan Monday for going back to school during the pandemic.

School is set to start on August 13th in Bartlesville.

Superintendent Chuck McCauley said he wants the drafted plan to answer as many questions as possible– transportation, cafeteria adjustments, and social distancing, to name a few.

McCauley said the district has multiple committees working on safety plans, as well as revised policies and procedures. He added they will likely adjust the plan as we all learn more about COVID-19 -- and ways to reduce its impact.

In a letter, he reminded parents and students of the districts learning different options.

  1. Traditional in-classroom learning.
  2. A combination of online and in-school instruction.
  3. And a virtual option that allows students to still take part in sports or fine arts programs.

After the district releases its plan today, it will host two community meetings on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. at Custer Stadium. The School Board will then further discuss the reopening plan during a meeting next Monday.

Last week the districts surveyed parents and students about masks and their impact on in-person versus at-home enrollment, but BPS hasn't yet shared the outcome of the survey.
