TULSA, Okla. -

People from across the area are pouring out love and support to the Tulsa Police after one officer was shot and killed this week and another officer fights for his life.

Tulsa Firefighters say they wanted to do anything they could to show their support and so they created a fundraiser to help the officer’s families.

In just 24 hours, they've raised more than 8,000 dollars from selling stickers and t-shirts.

Tulsa Firefighters said they came up with the idea to make helmet stickers to sell and wear to show their support for Sgt. Craig Johnson and Officer Aurash Zarkeshan who were shot in the line of duty. All the proceeds will go to the Tulsa Fraternal Order of Police Benevolent Fund to support the officers and their families.

"Just being out there and seeing the affect this is having on them is just touched us as well and we just want to be there and show them out support,” said Tulsa Firefighter Eric Acosta.

Acosta said they consider Tulsa Police part of their family. That’s why they made shirts, with a red and blue line that says 'one family'.

"The term one family is great for what we do. It's anywhere from car accidents, we’re on scene together, we know each other, we work real closely with all these officers,” said Acosta.

Acosta said they've been blown away by the support. He said they've sold more than a thousand shirts and more than 400 stickers in just 24 hours.

"Our first order was 250 stickers and our friend over at Branded Image doubled that order, free of charge, and gave us five hundred stickers,” said Acosta.

Acosta said Tulsa Firefighters and police officers may wear different uniforms, but he said there is a deep and long-lasting bond between them.

"Not just on incident scene do we work really close and well together, there's guy that I know that I work out with at the same gym, do other activities, involved in the same sports,” said Acosta.

Anyone can buy the shirts or stickers. A link to order a shirt is on the Tulsa Firefighters Facebook Page. Stickers are available to buy at the Tulsa Fire Local Hall at 13th and Detroit.
