Two Wilson, Oklahoma, police officers have been charged with second degree murder in connection with a July 2019 death, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation reported.
Joshua Taylor, 25, and Brandon Dingman, 34, were charged in connection with the death of 28-year-old Jared Lakey.
Lakey died on July 6, 2019 after being Tasered multiple times, OSBI said.
Taylor and Dingman were responding to a disorderly conduct call on July 4, 2019. When Lakey did not comply, Taylor and Dingman used their Tasers multiple times.
A Carter County deputy responded and assisted in getting Lakey into custody.
Lakey stopped breathing and became unresponsive. He was taken to a hospital in Healdton and then to OU Medical Center. Lakey died in Oklahoma City.
The Carter County Sheriff's Office requested OSBI's assistance in the in-custody death investigation.
The OSBI submitted its report to the Carter County district attorney's office. The district attorney issued arrest warrants for both men on July 1.
Both men turned themselves in Thursday morning to the sheriff's office. They were both given a $250,000 bond and bonded out of the Carter County jail.
