Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt will hold a new conference at 11 a.m. Tuesday, to discuss the rising rate of COVID-19 infections in the area.
Mayor Holt will be joined by executive director of the OKlahoma City-County Health Department.
Across the state and more specifically in Oklahoma City, there has been the largest spike in infections since the pandemic started.
Statewide, the numbers are closing in on 11,000 cases. The state health department says they added 218 more cases Monday.
Oklahoma City has the highest number of COVID-19 infections, with more than 1,700 at last check. That number includes nearly 60 deaths.
Breaking it down even further by Zip Code, the highest rate of infection in OKC city limits is in 73119, which is in the South West part of the City near Will Rogers World Airport. There are 120 confirmed infections there.
In a social media post late last week, Mayor Holt said he's in communication with local public health officials about if any official action is necessary or appropriate, based on science and data.
The full news conference will be streamed on News 9.
