Inmate Tests Positive For COVID-19 At Payne County Jail

Payne County Sheriff Kevin Woodward confirmed Friday that one inmate at the Payne County Jail has tested positive for COVID-19.

The county initially feared a COVID-19 outbreak was a possibility.

The lone COVID-19 case is out of nearly 300 inmates and courthouse employees who were tested for the virus.

The inmate who contracted the virus recently transferred from a different facility and has been in isolation since the positive test.
