OU Provost Stepping Down From Role Effective July 1

University of Oklahoma Senior Vice President and Provost Kyle Harper will be reassigned to a faculty role within the university system, effective July 1.

Senior Vice Provost Dr. Jill Irvine will serve as Interim Provost.

The announcement of both moves were made in a Wednesday morning email sent by OU President Joseph Harroz, Jr.

Students from the Black Emergency Response Team demanded Harper's immediate resignation in February after two OU professors used the n-word during their classes.

When BERT's sit-in protest ended, Harper's resignation was among their demands that were not met in some way.
