A group in Norman plans to occupy city hall Tuesday night, with a list of demands.

Protest organizers have a list of five main demands they want from the city, with a majority of them involving the Norman Police Department.

The first, and the one that's been a sweeping demand across the nation, is to defund the police. Instead, protesters want non-violent alternatives that they say increase racial equity.

They are also calling for the demilitarization of the Norman Police Department, and to permanently end the use of military grade style equipment.

Organizers are also demanding transparency and accountability from Norman Police, focused on how their tax money is being used to deal with racism.

They're seeking justice for the victims of the NPD, who they say where unjustly killed due to systemic racism.

Their last request is to end the school resource officer program in Norman.

Organizers say the program is racist, unjust and furthers the school to prison pipeline.

Occupy Norman City Hall begins at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
