A spontaneously organized car cruise in downtown Oklahoma City spotlighted community togetherness, inclusion, and love on Sunday.
The event was put together by a small group of OKC residents, including business owner Lawayne Cherry.
After watching powerful protests across the country, Cherry said he wanted to find common ground.
“No matter your gender, age, beliefs, whatever,” he said. “One thing we can all agree on is the love of cars.”
Families, artists, and others gathered outside the Tower Theater in Uptown with motorcycles and detailed cars before driving to Martin Luther King Avenue in northeast Oklahoma City. A group on horseback even joined the group.
“The message is love. The message is togetherness. No matter your beliefs, we all make this city what it is whether you’re young, you’re white, you’re black, male or female—it takes all of us to make Oklahoma, Oklahoma,” said Cherry.
