Summertime heat returns Thursday afternoon.
Highs will climb into the upper 90s and approach 100 out west. The heat index will be a big factor with high humidity. Heat index values will range from 100 to 106 across the state.
Stay hydrated, and make sure you wear light colored clothing today.
As we reach peak heating, thunderstorms are expected to develop out west. These storms will track to the east and will likely be severe at times. The threats will be hail up to the size of golf balls and winds to 65 mph.
As we lose the heat Thursday evening storms should weaken and fall apart.
