An 11-year-old boy from Owasso and his mom are organizing a peaceful protest for families on Friday.

Organizers tell us the plan is for the protest to start at Ator Elementary School, go down 86th Street North to Owasso High School, protestors will listen to speakers there and then head back to the Elementary School.

11-year-old Keandre Cox marched alongside thousands of peaceful protestors on Sunday.

"I felt proud," said Cox.

He got back to Owasso and decided he wanted other people to feel that way too.

"To make it to where I could have a future for me and a future for all black people," said Cox.

His mom, Christina started organizing a march for Friday.

"My son is biracial. I have seen first-hand the treatment, the difference in treatment to him verses my other children who are not biracial," said Keandre's mom Christina Johnson, "Me walking down and marching with him side-by-side, it is just putting out a message that this has to stop. We are fighting for our son's lives, our daughter's lives, our brother's our sister's, our mother's, our fathers."

She said safety is a top priority.

"We have every intention of this being family-friendly and completely peaceful," said Johnson.

Christina said she has talked to local leaders in Owasso and Tulsa, the Owasso Police Department, the City of Owasso and school leaders.

"I also have peacemakers, it is part of a de-escalation team," said Johnson, "I have taken every single security precaution that I possibly can to ensure the safety of my protestors as well as the community."

It will be a time she hopes will empower the community to peacefully take a stand against racism and inequality.

"We don't have any reason to believe that there are going to be any problems. I have a lot of confidence in what I am seeing and hearing related to the intent behind this protest," said Owasso Police Chief Scott Chambless.

If, for some reason, things would get out of hand, police say they have a plan for that as well, but say their priorities are protecting people's constitution rights and safety.

The chief said several officers have specifically requested to walk in the march, alongside protestors.
