The Tulsa Fraternal Order of Police says they are unhappy with a couple of the mayor's decisions that came out of his meeting with protesters.

Tulsa FOP Chairman Jerad Lindsey says the FOP members are disappointed Mayor GT Bynum decided the city will not renew their contract with the TV show Live PD. They are also against his renewed plan to build an office of independent monitor.

Mayor Bynum met yesterday with activists from Saturday's protest in Tulsa.

Those activists, a coalition of pastors, politicians and citizens, had four demands for the city, which included ending Live PD and establishing the office of independent monitor - which is based on a model used in the city of Denver. That office had been discussed in the past, but fell apart last year because it did not have full support from the city council.

Lindsey says they've met with city leaders in Denver who told them their independent monitor has led to less officer productivity and their violent crime rate has gone up there. Lindsey says officers are also against ending Live PD because it shows officers interacting with the public in a positive way.

"Everybody says transparency,” said Lindsey. “I don't know how you can get more transparent than a news crew riding around in the backseat of a police car every night and putting it live on national television."

The Mayor's office says at this time, their decision to end their contract with Live PD will not affect the First 48, which is another national TV show that Tulsa Police is featured in.
