WRWA Officials Say Terminal Expansion Ahead Of Schedule

Will Rogers World Airport is about halfway through with with a nearly $90 million dollar terminal expansion.

Airport officials said the construction is ahead of schedule thanks to good weather.

The biggest new project is a terminal expansion that will provide four additional airline gates, an observation deck and more overall space for passengers traveling through.

Just recently Will Rogers has added new major destinations including Miami International and New York LaGuardia. This expansion to the terminal will help them bring in even more destinations.

"We are growing and the airlines need to accommodate all of those flights," said Karen Carney, spokeswoman at Will Rogers World Airport.
 
Along with the terminal expansion, the airport is also working on refurbishing the baggage claim area, the hourly and private parking elevators and escalators,  and the major construction on Terminal Drive going into the airport.

According to representatives at Will Rogers, if construction goes at the same pace its been going, they will have the terminal expansion completed by early next year.
