The Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirmed a woman died at a local hospital after she was found in a north Oklahoma City creek Saturday morning.
Authorities said Marissa Santiago, 25, was traveling northbound in a construction area between the northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 235 before 9 a.m.
OHP said Santiago hit a concrete bridge, lost control of the vehicle and came to rest on its top in the bottom of a creek.
Santiago was trapped in about two feet of water before she was extricated alive by the Oklahoma City Fire Department.
According to OHP, Santiago died shortly after she was transported to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
The medical examiner will determine Santiago's cause of death.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
