For Okarche High School, prom has always been a community-wide event, according to parent Kim Behrens.

“It's not unusual for the town to watch everybody walk up in their prom gear, it's just a different way of doing it this year," she said.

The school changed the dynamic completely to accommodate for social distancing and opted for a parade in place of a traditional prom. Suits, flowers and dresses were still all over the students, but this year they all sat on a lot more horsepower.

“It's not what they expected prom to be, but it will still be a very important memory for them," Behrens said.

Students rode in truck beds, ATV's, and other sweet rides all over town. A police escort let them slow down to greet spectators along Main Street.

“I think this is very representative of small town, they do everything they can to make kids feel special,” Behrens said.
