A man in Canadian County was charged in connection with the death of an El Reno man.

The man was found dead in a neighborhood street last month.

About 2:30 a.m. on April 12, an El Reno resident saw the body of 40-year-old Robert Meely in the road.

“The calling party advised that there was a victim lying in the street, bleeding in the 100 block of North Barker,” said El Reno Assistant Police Chief Kirk Dickerson.

Investigators identified several people of interest, but on Friday, Canadian County prosecutors charged 29-year-old Andrew Keifer Beartrack with murder in connection with Meely's death.

Canadian County deputies said Beartrack stabbed Meely multiple times in the arm, abdomen and back.

One piece of evidence during the investigation was a cellphone, which the Oklahoma Highway Patrol dive team found in a pond at Legion Park in late April.

Beartrack is in the Canadian County jail and could face life in prison if convicted. So far, a court date for Beartrack hasn’t been set.
