The Moore Police Department is investigating a shooting, which left two people dead.
It happened Wednesday night inside a home, and now, investigators and neighbors are wondering what happened.
Police responded to the shooting after 8 p.m. and they’re investigating this as a potential murder-suicide.
Neighbors said situations like this don’t usually happen here.
“All the neighbors were just in shock because nothing like that happens in this neighborhood. It’s a safe, secure neighborhood and were just in total shock,” said Margaret Lackey.
According to Moore police, it happened near SW 34th Street and S Eastern. Two males, who were roommates, were inside the home when the incident occurred.
Police received a call from one of their parents saying their son contacted them and said he had been shot several times.
"When officers arrived, they were not able to make entry into the house,” said Moore police Sgt. Jeremy Lewis. “But they could see that there was evidence of someone being shot in the house.”
They surrounded the home and waited for other officers to arrive. They eventually made entry and found both roommates dead inside.
Some neighbors were home during the time of the shooting and couldn’t believe what had happened. No one else was hurt, but some neighbors claim to have heard the shots.
Police are still trying to piece together what exactly happened. They think both individuals were found in the same room.
“I believe they were barricaded behind a door, they had to make entry into a room, found both of them inside one room,” Lewis said.
Lackey said she’s lived in this neighborhood for 13 years and it’s usually a safe. She was up all night after hearing what happened.
“It’s really sad that something like this happens and at a time like this when there’s so much pressure on people with what they’re going through, it just it’s a very sad situation,” Lackey said.
